tutorial: purple smokey eyes

I've been a little obsessed with purple for the past few months. Maybe it was Natalie Portman's Oscars look that kicked it off -- or maybe it was just bound to happen, given that purple is such an easy, flattering color to wear.
And that applies to makeup too! Purple eyeshadow isn't like blue -- it's so much more neutral, and doesn't give that 80's vibe that most colored shadows do. It's almost more like a brown or grey, except even more universally pretty. Take basically any eye color and skin tone, and this makeup still looks great.
As smokey eyes go, this is pretty basic -- just a touch of a lighter lilac in the inner corner of the eye, a rich purple all over the lid and in the crease, and a little glitter to highlight the brow bone. I really briefly defined my brows, added two coats of mascara, and that's it! You're ready for anything, day or night, summer or winter.
Enjoy!
I used Bobbi Brown Crystal Eye Palette, gifted COVERGIRL LiquilineBlast in Violet Voltage, gifted Urban Decay Eyeshadow primer, DIORSHOW Mascara, and a Bobbi Brown Brow Kit that seems to have been discontinued.
