what's in my bag?

I'm always SO excited when other bloggers do a "What's In My Bag" post -- I seriously can't believe that I've never done one! It's probably partly because I tend to accumulate so many receipts, wrappers, and other miscellaneous junk that my bag is more of a "Proceed With Caution" zone than anything I'd like to put up in photos on Sugarlaws! But the other day, my bag was actually contained all my essentials without a whole bunch of junk, and I figured I'd take a few photos! Obviously, there's still a little bit of excess here (four lipsticks! oops!) and I do tend to carry around too much random jewelry (who knew?) but overall, these are my day-to-day essentials!
So what are they? Obviously, the staples like my wallet, car keys and iPhone are crucial -- I basically never leave our house without these three! The wallet is Longchamp from a zillion years ago -- since no one ever sees it, I never change it up! Then I have a few other crucial additions -- prescription sunglasses, business cards, and I usually have some sort of a snack on me at all times (lately I've been partial to these organic goldfish crackers from Whole Foods)!
Then, the makeup -- this is where I tend to go a little nuts! I basically always have at least three lipsticks, but four is pushing it, even for me. The ones I'm currently obsessed with are Estee Lauder's Pinkadelic from the Mad Men collection (this might be my absolute fave!), Chanel lipstick in Romance, Dior lipstick in Must-Have, and Beauty For Real lip gloss in Kiss Me. Love them all!
And I always carry Simple Skincare makeup wipes -- they're the best way to get rid of daytime grime if you don't have time to redo all your makeup for a night out! Finally, I love carrying a fragrance "pencil" rather than a bottle of perfume -- no risk of it spilling all over my bag! That happened to me once in high school and I NEVER got the smell out of that handbag. Sad! I love the ones Mark. makes -- this one is Very Sassy!
And, of course, jewelry -- these Kendra Scott earrings have been huge staples for me, and I love these initial necklaces that I picked up in Miami during the Cotton runway show! I've also been using ribbon hair ties rather than elastics -- they're so pretty and gentler on your hair! These are from Sephora here.
Last but not least, an old New York trick: I always try to keep a pair of flats on hand! Little ones that roll up into your bag (like these Tieks!) are perfect for quick errands or just letting you park a little further away from where you're going -- it's a quick trick to get a little time outdoors and exercise!
