VMA Party!

As part of my collaboration with COVERGIRL to serve as a COVERGIRL Beauty Ambassador, I have received products and been compensated for my time.
How fun were the VMAs last night? We had a BLAST at my house -- a nice, cozy group of girlfriends, some delicious snacks, a little wine, and of course, fabulous COVERGIRL makeovers!
Two trends we saw a ton of on the red carpet: natural makeup and bold, red lips! These are two of our absolute favorites here in Texas, so almost all of us went for some variation on those!
Being the host has it's perks, so I got to go first. Here's what Aubrie did for me:
First of all.... swoon. There's nothing like getting real, professional makeup, am I right? I've gotten pretty good at doing mine myself, but she is just so talented. And this whole look used just a couple of products!
We started with COVERGIRL Flamed Out eyeshadow pencils around the eyes, to give me a little bit of brightness and make my eyes really pop (we used the Silver Flame and Crystal Flame shades), and then lined my eyes with COVERGIRL Ink It! eye pencil in black for a little drama. But the real star of the look was the mascara -- do you see how crazy long and defined my lashes are in the picture? That's from COVERGIRL Flamed Out mascara, which is brand new and AMAZING! I actually haven't used a drugstore mascara in a while, but I was blown away by this one! We finished off the look with COVERGIRL Smoochies Lip Balm in a frosty pink shade called #cu l8r (so cute)! I'm seriously obsessed and will definitely be recreating this look myself!
And we had such a blast watching the red carpet and the show! Obviously our favorite moment was the (too short!) 'N Sync reunion, but I also loved getting to see all the edgy glam looks coming down the red carpet! Selena and Ciara were our favorite looks of the night, and cutie COVERGIRL Becky G. was looking gorgeous! (Apparently Becky G. and I have similar taste in makeup -- she was wearing the Flamed Out mascara and Ink It! liner too!) And, of course, the COVERGIRL x Hunger Games collection commercial was a huge highlight -- if you missed it during the show, it's on YouTube now and looks SO COOL!
Also, the food! We got some delicious, healthy bites from Ruggles Green, one of my favorite restaurants in Houston! This city has made MAJOR progress in the last few years in embracing local, organic ingredients, and Ruggles is one of my absolute favorites. We got three types of salad, pizzas, fish and chicken tacos, hummus and veggies, and their delicious goat cheese dip -- yum!
And, of course, I also had to pick up some sweets for later in the night: salted caramel cupcakes, petit fours, and mini bundt cakes and cinnamon rolls! Throw in a little bubbly and a little rose, and we were ready for a serious party!
And, of course, the makeovers! We had such a blast, and there was so much variety on the red carpet to choose from! Some of us rocked bold lips, and others went for smokey eyes and natural or coral lip shades -- and everyone looked gorgeous!
