Ingredients

2/3 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

6 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples

2 tablespoons lemon juice

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/2 cup butter, melted

1 package refrigerated pie crusts

1 tablespoon coarse sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F . Grease a 9 inch deep dish pie plate. Unroll one of the pie crusts and place it in the prepared pie plate. Crimp edges as desired. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, flour, lemon juice, apples, nutmeg, cinnamon and granulated sugar; mix well. Spoon mixture into the prepared crust. Unroll remaining pie crust and place over filling; trim excess dough from edges of pan and crimp edges together to seal. Cut several slits in top of crust to allow steam to escape during baking. Sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired. Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly around edges. Cool before serving.
