Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1/2 cup honey

3/4 cup buttermilk or plain yogurt

1 cup sliced almonds

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F . Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan. Spread the sliced almonds in an even layer on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for 8 minutes, stirring once halfway through. Remove from oven and set aside to cool. In a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk or yogurt, honey, vanilla extract, eggs, sugar, butter, salt, baking soda and baking powder until well blended. Add the cooled almonds and all-purpose flour to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined . Pour batter into prepared cake pan. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow cake to cool in pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely before serving. Enjoy!.
