Ingredients
1 cup split yellow lentils
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, chopped
1 green chili pepper, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground coriander
½ teaspoon garam masala
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
Directions
Wash and drain tuvar daal in a large fine mesh strainer. Heat ghee in pressure cooker over high heat until shimmering. Add asafoetida, turmeric, and washed daal. Cook, stirring frequently till the ghee coats the daal, about 20 seconds.
