, Sugar, Cornstarch, and Vanilla
In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of milk with 1/2 cup of sugar.
Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
In a small bowl, mix together 3 tablespoons of cornstarch with 1/4 cup of cold milk until smooth.
Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the simmering milk while stirring constantly.
Continue to stir until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil .
Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Pour the custard into individual serving dishes or one large dish and let cool completely before serving .
