Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled slightly
Vegetable oil, for frying
Directions
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. In a medium bowl, whisk together the butter, milk, sugar, salt, and baking powder until combined. Add the flour and stir until just combined. The batter should be thick but still pourable. Drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the hot oil and fry for 1 to 2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil and serve warm with your favorite toppings or sauces!.
