So, as you all know, I pretty much take any occasion there is to wear something sparkly. I can be getting dressed for a chill weekend brunch or a quick after-work cocktail, and about two out of three times, I'll wind up wearing something sequined.
But on New Year's Eve, the one night where you can literally deck yourself out in head to toe sparkles... I just wasn't in the mood.
Chad and I had a dinner reservation at Hundred Acres, one of our favorite places to eat in our neighborhood, and even though there's still about a foot and a half of snow on the ground in NYC, the sidewalks were clear enough that I could actually walk around in heels. Cue the perfect opportunity to wear this dress, right?
Here's the thing, though. If there's one thing I've learned about getting dressed, it's that you're always better wearing something that you're in the mood for and feel confident in, no matter what the occasion. And for some reason, to close out 2010, I was channeling my inner Effy Stonem or Kate Beckinsdale, and decided that wedge boots and all my jewelry were the way to go for the night.
2010 was an amazing year for me, and I could never have imagined when it began how many new things would come my way. I went to the Emmy Awards and Fashion Week, appeared in magazines all over the world, met designers, chefs and celebs I'd admired, and even did a little bit of modeling. I have projects in the works that I couldn't have even dreamed about a year ago, and I feel so incredibly grateful every day for everything that has come my way. And I'm so excited for 2011, and all the new challenges and opportunities it will bring!
Even if I didn't ring it in wearing sequins.
