style: military chic

There were a few items that I really felt like I couldn't live without this holiday season, and the top thing on that list was an amazing army jacket. I know I'm hitting the very late end of this trend, but when I saw this Aqua version for $76 on sale at Bloomingdales, I just couldn't resist.  The dress underneath it is actually a nightgown, so I'd never wear it by itself, but I've been in need of a simple black slip-type dress for underneath other outfits -- all of my black dresses are actually quite un-simple and don't really work for layered looks.

But then, as these things tend to go, a few days after New Year's I found this version at Anthropologie, and now I've gone from zero to two army jackets in my closet in just a few weeks. Hopefully this look stays current for a while!

Also, as you guys may have noticed, I've been trying to mix in some photos where I'm not smiling -- please excuse a few weird faces as I learn what I'm doing. :-)
