style: a bit old fashioned

I took these photos a few weeks ago, and I have to say, I'm already missing the days where I could wear a dress outside with no tights and not freeze to death. I know plenty of you guys have it way worse than we do in NYC, but I am such a summer girl, all I want to do when the weather gets cold is hibernate. Chad, the dogs, and the heaters cranked up to eighty degrees in our little apartment, and we'll see you in May, thank you very much.
But, since the world doesn't seem to work that way, I think I'll take some comfort in the things I love about winter. Snow, decorating our tree, sales at all my favorite stores, skiing, my favorite jackets, sequin holiday dresses, Christmas cookies, and, of course, getting to spend time with family and friends. I guess it's worth a little cold weather.
But before I get too far off track, this dress is my mom's, bought for a very special occasion (my wedding!) and I couldn't resist trying it on. You can actually see it on her if you click back to the photos from our wedding here! I paired it with this crazy hat I bought in Paris when I was in high school -- I've never worn it out of the house, but it's beautifully made and I keep hoping someday I'll have something that calls for it! Preppy and polished isn't always the look I gravitate towards when I'm choosing outfits, so I thought this would be a fun way to mix it up. Now all I need are some polo ponies!
Carolina Herrera dress, vintage belt, Hermes bracelet, Guess pumps, vintage French hat.
