spring fling

The last few weeks have been so terrific -- not for any reason specifically, although there are so many wonderful things happening right now, but because I've finally had the chance to just... breathe. After a year of going nonstop at 110%, it's amazing to start to see some of the pieces come together.
Take our house, for instance. Ever since we bought it, there's been this constant list of "Things We Need To Do For The House." Because Chad and I are never home during the week, this translates to "Things We Need To Do But Have No Way To Accomplish For The House." And honestly, that list hasn't gotten much shorter lately -- but it feels like we're slowly chipping away at it, and finally, I can see an end in sight!
Everyone says that you shouldn't decorate until you get to know your space, but one of my major personality flaws is that I'm incapable of procrastination. If I know that something has to be done, I want to do it right NOW. So it was a major challenge to sit back and let our house take shape around us.
... But it did! After eight months, we've finally figured out where everything should go and how it all fits together. Let's face it -- it's an uphill battle, and I know people spend decades making their house perfect, and ours is still far from it, but it's a nice feeling to know that we're making progress. And that even before it's perfect, it still feels like home.
And all of that is a long story that has nothing to do with this post, except that I feel really happy and grateful and (dare I say?) settled lately, and it's a really good feeling. Here's to a great spring full of pool parties, flowered dresses, and obviously, beautiful accessories. Who could ask for any more?
