signs of spring

I got out of the city this weekend, which was actually pretty amazing. Sometimes I feel like I've lived in New York for so long that I've forgotten that most of the world is surrounded by green leaves and blooming flowers at this time of year. My parents don't live too far outside the city, but it's a whole different world when spring comes along.

Which is partly why this Banana Republic dress was such a perfect fit -- I wanted something in a loose, breezy fabric that truly embraced springtime. A floral maxi dress could be borderline cutesy, but this one is just purely gorgeous.

And getting out of the city meant I could actually carry this adorable shoulder bag. Usually in NYC, I need an extra pair of flats on me at all time, plus my iPad or Kindle for the subway -- which makes a giant bag a necessity. I always forget that when you drive everywhere, you can carry so much less stuff around! There's something so chic about a tiny bag (especially this one), and I loved carrying it.
