Saw some seriously incredible shows today!
I started off the morning bright and early at Emerson, which was actually worth getting out of bed at 7:45 a.m. for (even though I am not a morning person and never will be). Kelly Cutrone was personally looking over everyone seated at the show, and she was actually so polite and lovely to everyone who came. For some reason, after seeing her Bravo show, I was kind of expecting her to be running around yelling at people, but not at all! (What, you mean that reality television show doesn't always portray people accurately? WHO KNEW?!)
I loved the clothes, and I was also totally obsessed with the hair at Emerson -- perfect bouncy curls that looked like they weighed nothing at all. I know they probably took a ton of work, and they were absolutely flawless. Maybe I can figure out how to recreate it at home?
And this afternoon, I saw (gasp) my first menswear show! Nautica rented out the pool/roofdeck of the Empire Hotel, right across from the tents, and filled it with male models in swimwear. Not going to lie, it was a pleasant change from looking at malnourished fourteen year old female models! You'll see from the photos -- it may have been the best fashion week event I've ever been to (don't tell Chad).
Other highlights of the day: Alexis Bledel at Nicole Miller looking stunning in a blue sheath, hanging out with Ashley at Rebecca Taylor (which was typically gorgeous, feminine, and a little sparkly), the gorgeous gowns at Joy Cioci (whose dresses I loved last year too), and the glam-metallic designs at Electric Feathers this morning, and, of course, heading over to Ippolita's showroom to borrow about $10,000 worth of jewelry for the week (so pesky that they want me to return it once NYFW is over)! A seriously full day, but SO much fun.
Also, I didn't have time for outfit photos this morning, but I basically wore this with my hair in a braid -- perfect for an out-of-the-blue 90 degree September day!
{maybe i should have been covering menswear all this time?}
{alexis bledel and ashley tisdale in the nicole miller front row}
{bold colors and ladylike silhouettes at joy cioci}
{leather and lace at emerson}
{finale at nicole miller -- who knew that a geometric print neon pantsuit is what my closet was missing?}
{bloggers and attendees snapping photos at nicole miller}
{loved how joy cioci makes everything so wearable and chic}
{again, how have i been missing out on this whole menswear fashion thing?}
{apparently chad's closet needs some neon as well, judging by the General Idea show}
{messy hair, bold cat-eyes, metallic fabrics and flats at electric feathers}
{i wish i looked this cool in a head-scarf. amazing.}
