july in houston

There's this thing that people used to tell me before we moved here: because July and August in Houston are so humid, the women here have this naturally incredible, moisturized skin.
And ok. After three weeks of July, I will tell you: the air is very moist here (hence the hair frizz... sorry guys).
But the problem? I don't spend ANY TIME IN IT. No, I spend my day jumping from air-conditioner to space-heater and back to air-conditioner, so my poor skin isn't even sure what season it is, let alone taking in the moisture-rich outdoor air. For sensitive skin, you know what's a disaster? That.
So I've been trying to take extra good care of my skin this summer -- and you know what's a really crucial fix? Taking off all my makeup, every time I don't need to be wearing it. Because you add dried-out, re-circulated indoor air to massive outdoor humidity, and you're going to get oil and grease building up underneath your makeup. No makeup on? Then just grab a Simple Skincare Cleansing Facial Wipe and you're good to go (I leave them in the glove compartment of my car now). Makeup on? Suddenly you're letting that buildup sit on your skin twice as long, or worse.
Now, that's not to say that I'm not wearing makeup -- let's be serious, that's not happening anytime soon. But it does mean that I'm not putting on foundation to run out to the grocery store, or putting anything on my face when I'm lazing around on a weekend afternoon. And you know what? With great facial skincare products, I don't even feel like I miss it.
