So, today I have some exciting news. Tomorrow morning, I'll be in Connecticut taping my first television segment!
I'm doing a feature on WTNH about Oscars parties, including cooking, dressing and decorating for them! I'm so, so excited and seriously nervous -- and really thankful that I had some prep during Fashion Week being interviewed on camera (more on that soon)!
For all you readers in Connecticut, set your DVRs for Friday at 12:30! And for everybody else, check back here next week, because I'll put up the web clip -- oh my gosh, I can't wait!
And, onto this outfit. I bought this dress (it's actually a skirt, but I like the volume better as a dress) at a sample sale back when sample sales were at brick-and-mortar stores and you had to brave the elements for hours to be let inside! But oh, the deals you could find back then -- I once picked up four Calypso bikinis for five dollars each.
The only problem with them (and this is true with the online ones too) was that sometimes I'd be so stoked about the deal that I'd buy something that I'd never wear. And while I love this skirt/dress and it's so unique and cool, it's definitely not a typical wardrobe staple for me.
But I figure that when you're out of your comfort zone, why not go over the top? I was going for a demented ballerina look (in honor of the Oscars, of course!) but somehow it came out a little Betsey Johnson-esque! I went to the amazing Robert Verdi Lounge during Fashion Week, and Conair gave me this awesome bag of goodies, including the teaser brush I used to give my hair some volume for this post! I am usually SO BORING about my hairstyle, so I'm super excited to experiment!
Nikka skirt, Intermix belt, Forever 21 sunglasses and heels, Natori rhinestone bracelet, $3 pink bracelet I got in LA this summer.
